Seven places to discover for skiing in Saguenay
Valinouët
If there’s one mountain that’s talked about across the entire province, it’s without a doubt Le Valinouët. If you’re visiting Saguenay in winter and looking for something to do, you absolutely must spend a day at the “Vali”!
If it’s beloved and renowned by thousands of skiers and snowboarders, it’s largely due to the exceptional quality of its snow. Indeed, Le Valinouët is one of the rare ski resorts to have 100% natural snow only. There are no snow cannons whatsoever, much to the delight of ski and snowboard enthusiasts.
Le Valinouët is located in the Monts-Valin area (30 minutes from downtown Chicoutimi), a place where snowfall amounts are far greater than in the city. As an example, the ski resort broke its snowfall record by receiving 921 centimetres of snow during the 2022 season.
All that snow makes for very pleasant conditions on the slopes. If you’ve never skied on 100% natural snow, this is your sign to head to Le Valinouët!
Centre plein air Le Norvégien
Located in Jonquière, Centre plein air Le Norvégien is not a ski resort, but it still offers plenty of activities. Club Perce-Neige
Club Perce-Neige is a small centre, but it is nonetheless a wonderful place to practice a sliding sport like cross-country skiing. It is located in the municipality of Bégin, a place surrounded by nature where outdoor living is part of everyday life.
