Seven great places to ski in the Saguenay region
Le Valinouët
If there's one mountain that's the talk of the province, it's undoubtedly Le Valinouët. If you're visiting the Saguenay in winter and you're looking for something to do, you absolutely must spend a day at the "vali"!
If Valinouët is renowned and loved by thousands of skiers and snowboarders, it's largely due to the exceptional quality of its snow. Indeed, Valinouët is one of the few resorts to have only 100% natural snow. There are no snow cannons, much to the delight of skiers and snowboarders.
Valinouët is located in the Monts Valin area (30 minutes from downtown Chicoutimi), where snowfall is much more abundant than in the city. For example, the ski resort broke its snow record with 921 centimetres of snow in the 2022 season. All this snow makes for very pleasant conditions on the slopes. If you've never slid on 100% natural snow, Valinouët is the place for you!
Le Centre plein air Le Norvégien
Located in Jonquière, the Center plein air Le Norvégien is not a ski resort, but it still offers a wide range of activities. A large number of outdoor enthusiasts visit the center every day, as it's so close to the city. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fatbikeit's the perfect place to get active in the great outdoors!
In total, the center offers no less than 67 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. There are three levels of difficulty. You can choose between family trails, intermediate trails and expert trails. In the evening, one trail is illuminated, making your experience particularly pleasant and magical.
Don't have your cross-country ski equipment? No problem! The resort offers rental depending on your style (classic or skate) and measurements.
Parc de la Rivière-du-Moulin
This park is very popular with the locals, who love it for its accessibility and natural beauty, making it easy to get away from it all. You don't have to drive far to get to the parc de la Rivière-du-Moulin it's right in the heart of the city!
In winter, cross-country skiers love it. With its 31 kilometers of trails, you're sure to find a hike to suit your level of experience and the length you'd like to cover.
If you don't have any cross-country ski equipment, don't panic! The park has everything you need at its rental store, located in the welcome chalet.
The Perce-Neige Club
The Perce-Neige Club is a small center, but it's still a great place to practice a winter sport like cross-country skiing. It's located in the municipality of Bégin, a place surrounded by nature, where the outdoors is at the heart of everyday life.
At the Perce-Neige club, you can practice both styles of cross-country skiing on trails ranging in length from 1.2 to 13 kilometers. If you'd like to round off your activity in style, we invite you to try the free slide, located near the main chalet.
Mont-Bélu ski resort
Looking for something to do in the La Baie borough in winter? Downhill skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts will find what they're looking for with a visit to the Mont-Bélu. This resort offers a stimulating snow park, fun glades and an exceptional panorama of the icy fjord.
